Remodel or Move?

It’s been the question in our household for the last 5 years.  And I absolutely cannot believe it’s been 5 years since we’ve lived here!!

Well for now, we’re remodeling.  Just one room ~ the kids bathroom upstairs.  Phase 1 of 1,000 (to say the least).  That’s the problem when you buy a house that is 35 years old!

Adios gross heat register…

 Won’t be missin ‘ya really bad cabinets…

This project is LONG overdue, and will be truly fab when it’s finished,

 

and I knew it would be a messy project, seeing as we’re doing the demolition ourselves and we’ve done projects before where we were washing dishes in the bathtub,

but this one is CRAZY messy.  We have a huge garbage can upstairs that has been dragged down our stairs about a thousand times already…

our carpeting is now trashed, and bringing the toilet down full of water didn’t help the situation.  water + plaster = huge mess.  And that plaster travels! 

I can’t wait to see what happens when we have to bring the jackhammer in to get the concrete out!

Hopefully the jackhammer won’t end up in our kitchen sink! 

This is what is happening in our kitchen as this is going on.  Right now, we’re at three canned lights hanging from their cords…

…and a house full of NOISE!  It is so incredibly L-O-U-D I’m having a hard time concentrating while I type this!  It makes it hard to demo because Bill basically has between the hours of 6-9 (and that’s pushing it) every night after work to get this done.  Thank you Chris for all your help!!!

This is the best part of the project so far.  The gigantic dumpster.  I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to go through rooms and clean house!  Everybody needs one of these at some point in their lives I tell ya!
